Trusting God When Life Doesn’t Make Sense

Have you ever wondered why difficult things happen?

We faced seasons that left us asking tough questions.

Why did I lose my job?

Why is my health changing?

Why is my family struggling?

The Bible reminds us that we are not the first people to ask those questions.

One of the greatest examples of faith during suffering is the story of Job.

Job was known as a man of integrity who loved and honored God. Yet in a brief period, he lost his wealth, his children, and his health. His grief was overwhelming.

Even his closest friends believed he must have done something wrong to deserve such suffering.

However, they were mistaken.

Job’s story teaches us that not every hardship is a punishment. Sometimes we simply do not understand God’s purpose.

Choosing Faith Over Fear

Although Job asked honest questions, he continued seeking God.

He refused to completely give up his faith.

His story reminds us that God welcomes our questions while calling us to continue trusting Him.

Faith does not mean pretending everything is fine.

Instead, faith means believing that God is still working, even when we cannot see the outcome.

God Never Left Job

Near the end of the book, God spoke to Job.

He reminded Job that His wisdom is greater than human understanding.

Although God did not answer every question, He reminded Job that He had been present all along.

Eventually, God restored Job and blessed him again.

The restoration did not erase Job’s pain, but it showed that suffering was not the end of his story.

What We Can Learn Today

Job’s story encourages us to:

• Keep praying during difficult seasons.

• Be honest with God about our feelings.

• Avoid assuming we know why others suffer.

• Continue trusting God’s character even when life feels uncertain.

Hope grows stronger when we remember that God’s love does not change with our circumstances.

Scripture

“The Lord gave, and the Lord has taken away; blessed be the name of the Lord.”

— Job 1:21
